The USPS has introduced a new package shipping program as of July 10, 2023.
The new program promises to ship packages quickly across the continental United States. Features of the new program include:
- Packages delivered in 2-5 business days across the continental US
- Free Package pickup serice at home or in-office
- Business customers can use USPS Ground Advantage return service as a convenient option for customers who need to return purchases
- $100 insurance is included on USPS Ground Advantage and USPS Ground Advantage Return packages. Addition insurance up to $5000 can be purchased.
USPS Ground Advantage is available wherever customers ship from including all 34,000 post office or on Click-N-Ship
The launch of this program coincides with the possible teamsters strike on UPS at the end of July. Last holiday season, USPs attributed some holiday delays to overruns from competitors like FedEx and UPS. However, USPS officials now say that because of USPS increased staffing and updated delivery networks, the USPS will be able to handle any additional packages from UPS.
The new program also brings to an end Retail Ground, Parcel Select Ground and First Class Package Service. In the past these programs focused on packages under 5 pounds. The new program plans to compete with packages up to 25 pounds.
