The California Department of Motor Vehicles has been partnering with the USPS by renting space in Post Office lobbies for self-serve DMV kiosks. These Kiosks are used as a storefront for DMV functions such as renewing vehicle registration. The program began in fall of 2021 and is being continued through October of 2022.
Participating post offices in San Francisco, Sacramento, Rancho Cordova, Paradise, Oakland and Los Angeles provide a conveniently located storefront for some basic DMV functions such as renewing vehicle registration.
Kaitlyn Alves of the USPS said the Postal Service is looking for additional ways to work with other state governments to leverage the postal infrastructure and help underserved communities.
Delivering for America, the Postal Service’s 10-year plan, states a goal of providing local government services to postal customers.
