Spring Semiannual Report to Congress 2025
June 5, 2025
The US Postal Service office of the Inspector General (USPS OIG) is required by law to report to Congress every six months. The reports cover the Agency’s activities. The USPS OIG has three main departments: The Office of Audit, the Office of Investigators and the Research and Insights Solution Center.
The most recent report is 65 pages long. Recognizing that most people have neither the time or interest in reading this lengthy report, the OIG’s office has created a digital summary of the report, If you would prefer to read the entire report click HERE.
The Office of Audit issues papers on various aspects of postal operations being audited by the OK. These can include audits of facility maintenance, pricing, operations or retail marketing and supply management.
The Office of Investigations focuses on mail theft, narcotics trafficking, and various types of fraud. More recently the OIG has created specialized units to investigate cyber crime and organized crime.
The Research Center analyzes strategic, operational and policy issues affecting the USPS. White papers published by this department provide insights on issues that affect current and future postal operations.
