Positive reports are coming from postal stakeholders who have met with the Task Force on the US Postal Service. Participants are impressed with the Task Force member’s commitment to determining the cause of the US Postal Service’s financial difficulties.
Mike Plunkett, a former USPS Vice President for Pricing and Classification reported that the Task Force members had “clearly done a fair amount of homework.” Rafe Morrisey, Vice President for Postal Affairs at the Greeting Card Association, said his group’s members “Were impressed with the level of knowledge that the staff had and the awareness not only of the broad mandate of the task force, but the legislative proposals on the table.” Another USPS official report that the Task Force members “Had an earnest desire to understand the situation the Postal Service is in, what’s causing it, and what can be done of it.”
All stakeholders reported that the Task Force kept their opinions to themselves, but were very willing to listen. The Task Force has until August to prepare their final report.
