Representative Gerald Connolly, a longtime Democratic member of Congress who was an unfailing ally of the AUSPL and a staunch supporter of the USPS, died on Wednesday. He was 75 years old.
The congressman always made time to meet with the leaders of the AUSPL over the last several decades and was a fierce opponent of privatization of the USPS. In 2022, Rep. Connolly, as the Ranking Member on the House Committee on Oversight and Government Reform, saw the successful passage of the Postal Service Reform Act, a bill he sponsored with broad bipartisan support. That bill was one of the most significant acts of legislation affecting the USPS in this century. Rep.
Connolly is survived by his wife, Cathy Smith and their son. The AUSPL sends its condolences to the Connolly family.
