January 2022. The USPS and the White House are partnering to distribute at-home Covid tests around the US toward the end of January. Karine Jean-Pierre, a White House spokeswoman, said the Biden team has awarded the first of its contracts to procure the tests and said they would be distributed through the mail.
Evan Katz of Government Executive reports that Jeffrey Zients, the White House’s coronavirus response coordinator, told reporters Wednesday that manufacturers would begin delivering tests to the federal government “over the next week or so.” He said those kits would “not disrupt or in any way cannibalize the tests that are on pharmacy shelves and on websites and used in other settings.”
USPS Postmaster General Louis Katz says that the USPS is ready to do distribute the test kits on the first day the program launches.
